Candice Swanepoel Test-Drives Her New Swimwear Label on a Dream Vacation to Brazil

To start 2018 on the right foot, models Candice Swanepoel and Doutzen Kroes headed to Trancoso, Brazil, earlier this month for a little rest and relaxation. The pair enjoyed every minute of their escape, filling their Instagrams with plenty of envy-inducing beachfront selfies. Though Swanepoel and Kroes are used to jetting off to glamorous locations for work, their trip to Uxua Casa Hotel & Spa offered a rare opportunity to unwind with close friends and family. “The best part was spending time together,” said Swanepoel, whose husband, male model Hermann Nicoli, hails from Brazil. “I loved showing my friends and my son the energy of Bahia and its locals, and my son loved the water!”

The supermodel already had a warm-weather wardrobe ready to go, having ended 2017 with trips to Shanghai and Turks and Caicos. “Beach destinations are my favorite to pack for,” she says. “All you need are lightweight dresses, beach wraps, and bikinis.” Swanepoel, who is currently expecting her second child, packed a colorful selection of embellished swimwear and gauzy wraps and ditched traditional maternitywear for clothes that, simply put, made her feel great: Think: a leopard-print string bikini perfect for soaking up the sun and a metallic slip dress worn to dance beneath the fireworks.

If Swanepoel looks like she’s got pregnancy style down pat, her new role as a designer may have something to do with it. Her swimwear label, Tropic of C, is set to launch later this year. With pieces including gingham bustier tops and playful spotted bikinis, the line has all the sexiness one would expect from a Victoria’s Secret Angel, but for Swanepoel the appeal is all about the fit. “It’s [all] super-comfortable, which is so important to me right now as I am pregnant,” said the model, who tested pieces from the new collection in Bahia.
